We recognise what a daunting time secondary school transition can be for both our children and their parents and therefore we are proactive in providing support both during the application process and afterwards once secondary schools offers are made available. We advise parents to start considering their child’s secondary school options in Year 5 and invite them to attend a secondary transfer meeting at the end of this academic year. Parents are also given the opportunity to meet with the Headteacher at any stage during the application process and then again later when offers are made, to discuss their child’s options.
It is important that parents chose a school that suits their individual child. Therefore, we encourage parents to be proactive in visiting as many schools as they can so that they are fully informed when deciding which setting they think is going to provide the best opportunities for their child. Following this, we advise that parents select a smaller number of schools to take their child to so that they can make their final choices without being too overwhelmed.
