Sustainability Ambassadors
Who are the Sustainability Ambassadors?
Each class from Year 2 to Year 6 is represented with Ambassadors.
Year 2: Helen and William
Year 3: Josephine and Xander
Year 4: Poppy and Sylvia
Year 5: Leon and Amy
Year 6: Marta, Martha and Georgie
These children put themselves forward because they are interested about sustainability, our environment and reducing waste. The children are active, keen and determined to make a difference.
What is the aim of the Sustainability Ambassadors?
One of the most important things about being an Ambassador is convincing other people to become greener too. As our sustainability champions, the Ambassadors take the lead in helping to educate our school about environmental issues and sustainability. They also remind classmates and teachers to ‘stay green’ by switching things off, recycling and thinking about how to reduce our dependency on single-use resources. Our Ambassadors are also involved with developing a more bio-diverse outdoor area.
What specific projects will the Sustainability Ambassadors be involved with?
- They will help set the sustainability goals for the school.
- They will develop an area for growing herbs and vegetables for use in the kitchen.
- They will assist with collecting data about biodiversity in the playground for the National Education Park.
- They will use a variety of forms of communication (newsletters, posters, assemblies) to remind the school community about different ways to ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’.
If you have any ideas, ways in which you can help us or useful contacts, please get in touch with the sustainability team via Miss Edmondson in Year 2.
